September 9 

Free Naturalization Information Session at OC Senior Center

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will host a naturalization information session at Lakeview Senior Center at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The session is part of a larger USCIS initiative to help immigrants better understand the naturalization process, including the content of the naturalization test, and become familiar with free educational resources and materials available from the agency. The public is invited and USCIS personnel will be on-hand to discuss the naturalization process step-by-step and provide information about eligibility and residency requirements, application forms, fees, the background security check and processing times.  Participants will also see sample questions from the naturalization test  and receive an overview of U.S. history and civic principles.  Free educational materials will be given out, and bilingual Immigration Service Officers will be available for questions and answers at this session. Following the information session, local community partners will conduct a citizenship workshop for further assistance with the citizenship process. Language assistance will be provided. Free Massive Medical, Dental, and Vision Clinic Hosted by Care Harbor

Care Harbor, the largest free clinic in the U.S., will take place at the L.A. Sports Arena (3939 S. Figueroa St.) on Sept. 11-14. The clinic will provide everything from dental fillings and root canals to prescription eyeglasses and medical exams. Admission is on a first come, first serve basis. Wristbands, which are tickets into the clinic, will be distributed only on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 AM at the L.A. Sports Arena. For more information please visit www.careharbor.org.

Summit on Today’s Marriage and Family Life

 

All are invited to a three-day gathering of the Catholic faithful on September 12-14, 2014, at the St. Lorenzo Ruiz Church in Walnut. A free Praise Concert will open the summit Friday from 5-11 pm. The Summit Proper Saturday, from 7 am to 10 pm, will highlight valuable talks and open forums with Bishop Emeritus Ted Bacani as keynote speaker, talking about ‘The Catholic Faith in Today’s World.’ Auxiliary Bishop Oscar A. Solis will speak on ‘The Response of the Church: the New Evangelization.’ The summit will be wrapped up by Fr. Tony P. Estudillo, who planned the event in preparation for the upcoming Synod in Rome on Marriage and Family Life. Tickets for Saturday’s activities are $25 each, including meals and snacks. Davao Association USA Turn-Around Trip to San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino

 

The Officers and Board of Directors of Davao Association USA (DAUSA) would like to thank the families and friends who attended the Annual Family Picnic in Sylmar in June. The next fundraiser gathering will be on Sunday, Sept. 14; a turn-around trip to San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino (777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland, CA 92346) on a tourist bus with a maximum capacity of 58 seats. The bus trip is FREE, and a $10 voucher for food and gambling will be issued by the Casino to bus riders upon arrival.
